Property tax relief for disabled veterans
Both states have a program that can reduce property taxes for some disabled veterans who own and live in their home. The figures below are for the 2025 tax year. Limits and deadlines change every year, so check the state page before you file.
Kansas, Form K-40SVR. For the 2025 claim, the Kansas Department of Revenue lists a service-connected disability rating of at least 50%, household income of $58,041 or less, and a home appraised at $350,000 or less. The claim is a refund. Kansas Department of Revenue
Missouri, Form MO-PTC, Box B. For veterans 100% disabled from military service, VA payments are left out of household income when figuring the credit. A VA letter confirming the rating is required. Missouri Department of Revenue instructions
Other local exemptions may exist in your county. Ask your county assessor.
